Job Title: Junior Safety Officer (Pretoria)
Job Description: As a Junior Safety Officer, you will assist in ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and promoting a safe work environment. You will work under the supervision of Senior Safety Personnel to implement safety policies, conduct inspections, and provide safety training to employees.
Primary Duties:
Assist in conducting regular safety inspections of the workplace to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Assist in developing and implementing safety procedures, policies, and guidelines in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Assist in conducting safety training sessions for employees on topics such as hazard identification, emergency procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
Monitor and ensure the proper use and maintenance of safety equipment and facilities.
Collaborate with other departments to address safety concerns and implement corrective measures.
Assist in maintaining safety records and documentation, including incident reports, inspection logs, and training records.
Stay updated on relevant safety regulations and industry best practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
Participate in safety meetings and committees to contribute ideas and recommendations for enhancing workplace safety.
Perform any other duties as assigned by Senior Safety Personnel or Management.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential Matric qualification.
Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field - SAMTRAC.
Registered with SACPCMP – NON-NEGOTIABLE.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and standards.
Strong attention to detail and observation skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities.
Prior experience in a similar role or industry is an advantage.
Capacity to work well under pressure.
Valid driver's license.
Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred.
