Our client, a farm situated between Paarl and Franschhoek (Western Cape), has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Operations Manager to join their growing team. The ideal candidate has strong people management and communication abilities (Afrikaans & English), paired with excellent planning skills and knowledge of process flows. The farm mainly produces blueberries (16 ha) and strawberries (9 ha) primarily for the export market. The purpose of the role is to optimally manage all operations related to the farm and production processes. Duties will include:Staff management (permanent & seasonal farm & packing workers)Development and training of staffSupervision and management of annual strawberry land preparation operationsPre-harvest capacity planningMonitoring & management of all operational processes pertaining to harvestMaximizing first grade production during harvest and in-field packingManaging harvest budget in collaboration with General ManagerLabour cost managementImplementing & ensuring adherence to labour and audit compliance guidelines (Global Gap & SIZA)Daily/weekly planning and progress communication of harvest activitiesReportingAll other tasks related to the roleEssential qualifications, skills, and experience:Tertiary qualification in Agriculture/Operations/Production/Manufacturing;Approximately 2 years' experience in a similar position in agricultural crop production (experience working with soft fruit highly advantageous);Knowledge of mechanical farm equipment operation and maintenance advantageous;Excellent attention to detail and numerical ability;Excellent computer literacy (MS Office, specifically Excel);Valid driver's license (Code 10 advantageous).Please apply online at www.m3online.co.za before 09:00 on 18 March 2024.
