About: The Junior Mechanical Engineer (JME) is an entry point for engineering personnel. The position encompasses a fast track program of knowledge and performance with regards to Offshore Drilling Riser and associated well control equipment as well as CLIENT's systems and processes. The employee will be supervised by Mechanical Engineers, Management and Consultants. He/she will be an enthusiastic, efficient, committed individual with a strong background in engineering theory, who can think practically and innovatively, with an ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities, include but not limited: Complete training as required. Shadow Project & Mechanical Engineers, Field Service and Subsea Engineers in order to gain a fundamental understanding of the design, operation, inspection and repair of Capital Drilling Equipment. Work alongside the current engineering team assisting with design requests for special tooling. Provide assistance to Project & Mechanical Engineers with in-house development, including strength calculations (from first principles and FEA/Simulation when required), 3D CAD modelling and drawing using SolidWorks, manufacturing data pack generation (incl. BOM's, QCP's and Works Instructions) and vendor management during fabrication stage. Join the design engineering team focusing on subsea well control equipment design. Manage design & manufacturing projects from inception through to delivery, initially with assistance of management but ultimately unaided; this will include, but will not be limited to, procurement, logistics, resource planning, scheduling, reporting, inspection report reviews, databook generation and submission. Draft manuals and procedures as required. Report effectively to management and Customers. Always ensure a safe working environment. Qualifications and Experience: Mechanical Engineering degree or diploma. No experience required, as this is a Junior Position (Vacation or experiential training relevant to the field would be advantageous). Skills: The following are the minimum skills required to perform the function:
An advanced knowledge of the MS Office suite. Excellent written communicator (email; technical report writing). Excellent level of English, both written and verbal. Sound understanding of 3D CAD packages, in particular SolidWorks would be advantageous. Knowledge in FEA software, in particular SolidWorks Simulation, would be advantageous. Knowledge in Engineering Calculations Software, Mathcad, MATLAB or similar, would be advantageous. Job Type: Permanent
