At ArcelorMittal, our goal is to help build a better world with smarter steels.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the shift production performance of the relevant processes in the rolling mill and finishing end.To deliver planned production on shift as it relates to the area of responsibility, based on customer requirements, in line with the monthly production plan.Directs and coordinates the operations and process functions within the relevant areas of responsibility with a strong leadership focus on safety and customer core values.Oversees the production process in accordance with the Quality Management system, driving operational excellence in production methods and unit production costs through continuous improvement.Recognizes changes in plant business imperatives that require adjustment of the production plan, collaborating with other production managers in developing new forecasts.Ensures competency and efficiency of the workforce by developing their knowledge, skills, and abilities.Contributes towards maximizing the economic value and long-term sustainability of the business.Prioritizes and efficiently manages and coordinates production activities on shift.Ensures safe plant conditions for employees, ensuring adherence to standards and rules.Develops safety rules and executes them.Conducts risk assessments and develops control measures.Makes decisions on shift related to production activities.Capable of executing work in a heat, dust, and noise area.Creates and maintains a safe work environment in accordance with requirements.Conducts accident and incident investigations when required.QualificationsNational Diploma (NQF 6/10) in a technical disciplineExperience and Requirements:Minimum of 5 years' experience in a heavy section millPrevious rolling mill manufacturing industry experience will be advantageous.Computer literate (Microsoft Office and SAP)In a position to obtain a medical fitness certificateKnowledge of the SHERQ systemsWilling to work shifts and additional hours if and when required.Own transport for flexibilityPersonal Attributes:Strong leadership abilitiesGood written and verbal communication skills in EnglishSafety and quality consciousPhysically fit and agile to work in confined and challenging environmentsHighly motivated and self-drivenWilling to perform multi-skilled tasksAble to work independently and as a team playerPro-active, initiative, performance-oriented, and able to work under pressureExcellent organizing and planning skillsGood communication, interpersonal, and customer relationship skillsGood vision and hearingWilling to learn and explore improvement ideasStrong analytical, problem-solving, coordination, and innovative skills with attention to detail
