ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the shift production performance of the relevant processes in the rolling mill and finishing end.To deliver planned production on shift as it relates to the area of responsibility, based on customer requirements, in line with the monthly production plan.Directs and coordinates the operations and process functions within the relevant areas of responsibility with a strong leadership focus on safety and the customer.Oversees the production process in accordance with the Quality Management system, driving operational excellence in production methods and unit production costs through continuous improvement.Recognize changes in the plant business imperatives that require adjustment of the production plan, collaborating with other production managers in developing new forecasts.Ensure competency and efficiency of the workforce by developing their knowledge, skills, and abilities.Contributes towards maximizing the economic value and long-term sustainability of the business.Prioritize and efficiently manage and coordinate production activities on shift.Ensure safe plant conditions for employees and adherence to standards and rules.Develop safety rules and execute them.Conduct risk assessments and develop control measures.Make decisions on shift as it relates to production activities.Ensure safe working practices and compliance with safety procedures.Create and maintain a safe work environment in accordance with requirements.Conduct accident and incident investigations when required.QualificationNational Diploma (NQF 6/10) in a technical disciplineExperience and Requirements:Minimum of 5 years' experience in a heavy section mill.Previous rolling mill manufacturing industry experience will be advantageous.Computer literate (Microsoft Office and SAP).In a position to obtain a medical fitness certificate.Knowledge of SHERQ systems.Willing to work shifts and additional hours if required.Own transport for flexibility.Personal AttributesStrong leadership abilities.Good written and verbal communication skills in English.Safety and quality conscious.Must be physically fit and agile to work in small and dirty places.Highly motivated and self-driven.Willing to perform multi-skilled tasks.Able to work independently and be a team player.Pro-active, initiative, performance-oriented, able to work under pressure.Organizing and planning skills.Good communication, interpersonal, and customer relationship skills.Must have good vision and hearing.Willing to learn and explore improvement ideas.Good analytical, problem-solving, coordination, and innovative skills with attention to detail.
