The Junior Human Resource Business Partner will be located in our Umhlanga, Kwazulu Natal office and will provide support to assigned business units and be instrumental in facilitating and implementing agreed deliverables. These business deliverables will be aligned to Human Resources' Strategy and Business Strategy, collaborating to develop and implement best practice HR programs, policies, and systems that support the organisation's leaders and managers in managing their units and meeting their strategic priorities.
Key to the success of the Junior HRBP is the ability to develop a strategic partnership in their 'day to day' work within assigned portfolios. This comes from understanding the department or business key strategic challenges and providing HR intervention to help the leaders achieve their goals and create positive and productive workplaces.
What will make you successful in this role?The Jnr HRBP will partner with assigned business area, supported by the Group HR Shared Service Centre and Group Centre of Expertise (COE), attending to: Recruitment & InductionAssists management with the development of Job Profiles and SpecificationsAdvertising of vacanciesShort listing of CV's and conduct interviews in partnership with the relevant hiring managerTimeous induction and onboarding of new recruitsAdministration and ReportingCompletes all letters, contracts, benefits documentation in an accurate and timely mannerProvides regular and thorough HR reports to assigned business areas and HR leadership teamPayroll administrationTalent ManagementEnsure all employees have a Personal Development Plan in placeAssist with the Talent review process in the Business Units and outcomes from this processBusiness PartnershipDevelop a good understanding of the business in order to partner at the right level and influence HR related decisionsProvide advice and guidance on HR matters to managers and employees across the business area on HR related matters and escalate where necessaryDrive actions with the support of the relevant CoE and MiWay HR LeadershipRefer employees to the Employee Assistance Program, when requiredDrive Employee wellness initiativesPerformance managementAssist Business Unit managers in the performance management process (contracting, appraisals, performance improvement plans etc)Continuous education regarding the performance management processCulture and EngagementAssist with change management interventions in the Business UnitResponsible for the execution of the culture and engagement survey in respect of participation, feedback to business, action planningPartner with business regarding Organisational Design and DevelopmentLearning and DevelopmentAssist Business Unit managers and Learning & Development (L&D) Department with discussions regarding work related and post graduate study aid (candidate approval) as well as the placement of learners and graduatesAssist with L&D programmes and putting interventions in place in consultations with L&D to address those needs that cannot be addressed through generic programmesEmployee RelationsProvide sound advice to ensure the organisation complies to best practice and legislative issuesProvide support to line managers in dealing with disciplinary, incapacity and grievance mattersAct as the primary point of contact for managers and employees for policy and procedure.Deal with all appeals from disciplinary proceedings in line with the disciplinary codePro-actively addressing training needs in consultation with relevant COE and MiWay HR LeadershipRemunerationFacilitate remuneration processes in Business Units including creating awareness of employee wellness offerings, job evaluation etc.QualificationDegree or Diploma in Human Resources Management / Industrial Psychology / relevant behavioural science. Postgraduate qualification will be advantageousExperience3 years+ HR Generalist experience including responsibilities in IR, performance management and stakeholder engagementPrevious Short-Term Insurance experience.KnowledgeKnowledgeable about HR practices: recruitment, talent development, performance management, legislation, labour relations, leadership and organisational development, change management and remuneration.A strong understanding of HR legislation and requirements, and the ability to apply the relevant legislation in the work environment. Specifically, knowledge of employment practices & compliance (Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Employment Equity Act, Skills development Act).Good knowledge and understanding of HR Best practices, policies and procedures.SkillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsBusiness acumenAbility to build and maintain good internal and external relationshipsStrong negotiation and interpersonal skillsStrong problem solving and analytical skills.
