Job Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to provide cost estimates to Client Partners for the relevant displays/units under supervision.
Describe the role and its core responsibilities:
Operational efficiency and excellence
Production costing knowledge: the ability to read engineering drawings, understand a Bill of Materials (BOM) and apply the best (LEAN) manufacturing processes and materials to ensure a cost competitive solution.
Temporary and Permanent costings: the ability to output production costing models to provide accurate and detailed cost estimates to stakeholders.
Input costing knowledge: the ability to revise and challenge all input costs associated with a Cost Estimate (CE). Ensuring the Costing Model is updated and accurate at all times.
Document management: the ability to accurately file and store data pertaining to Request For Price (RFPs) – local and international, CEs, quotations and any relevant documentation pertaining to a CE.
Innovation: To provide innovative ideas pertaining to the products and services offered by Barrows, relating to materials, business processes and outsourcing activities.
Industry knowledge: Continue to develop industry knowledge by visiting suppliers, doing trade visits and keeping abreast with credible information pertaining to changes in the industry.
Supply chain management: An understanding of both material and process suppliers and the offerings they provide, and the costs of these offerings.
Networking and collaboration: Continued relationship building with new and/or existing suppliers and clients. Application of collaborative-negotiation (win-win) approaches which benefit Barrows, suppliers, customers and the environment.
Cost Analysis: Provide basic analysis information between cost and sell prices for processes and materials, and the details thereof.

Any other reasonable request from management including particular projects as needed.
Minimum experience/requirements & Skills:
A minimum of 1-3 years' experience in procurement.
Comprehensive knowledge of ERP System.
Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
Good communication (written, verbal, and listening).
Able to work to tight deadlines.
Prioritization of tasks.
Conflict management skills.
Negotiation skills.
Attention to detail and a positive attitude.
Minimum qualifications:
Grade 12.
