Introduction
We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented and eager-to-learn Junior Copywriter (Editor) to join our marketing team. This role primarily focuses on copy editing and proofreading, with occasional conceptualisation and copywriting tasks. It also requires a keen eye for detail, a level head in a stressful, high-paced environment, as well as the ability to work collaboratively across various teams within our business.
Job description
Responsibilities:
Copy editing & proofreading: Assist with the copy editing and proofreading of various print elements like leaflet descriptions, in-store tickets, point of sale, and other print materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines.
Translation: Assist with translation of press ads from English to Afrikaans.
Script writing: Assist with writing TVC scripts and radio live reads, ensuring all content is clear, compelling, and aligns with the campaign objectives.
Creative input: Occasionally contribute to the creation of leaflet headings and other short-form content that requires a creative touch.
Cross-functional collaboration: Support other departments (marketing, packaging, digital) when able to assist with tasks such as checking packaging manuals, drafting social media posts and email subject lines, copy editing press ads, or assist with more creative projects like store opening live reads, coming up with brand and product names, and so forth.
Quality control: Help ensure all copy materials are free of errors and meet the brand standard.
Feedback implementation: Carefully review feedback from supervisors and make necessary revisions to improve the quality and effectiveness of the copy.
Minimum requirements
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field.
Portfolio of work (if available).
Strong editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to spot and correct errors quickly.
Basic writing skills for occasional copywriting tasks.
Good research skills to support accurate and relevant content creation.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to take constructive criticism and incorporate feedback effectively.
Computer literacy in all Microsoft Office packages.
