Job Description
WSP is seeking a Junior Civil Engineer to join the Water Infrastructure and Design Division within the Mine Engineering Business Unit. This person will be responsible for assisting with the design, drawing, and construction monitoring of infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the design, drawing, and construction monitoring of infrastructure projects including:
Pipelines and pipework for Newtonian fluids
Open Channel Flow hydraulics
Alignment of roads and terraces
Earthworks modelling
Pipeline modelling for water hammer, pump selecting, etc.
Undertake planning, engineering design work, and supervision of construction as required and as directed by Project Leaders or Engineers
Prepare cost estimates
Ensure all designs and drawings are properly documented and checked
Construction administration skills
Attend site and other meetings, to action times timeously and effectively
Achieve minimum financial productivity on all projects
Ensure effective systems are implemented for good record keeping – files, reports, drawings, construction data, etc.
Liaise with other staff working on projects at all levels
Assist with contract administration including preparation of certificates and "as built" drawings, construction dates, etc.
Ensure suitability of technical proposals
Compile letters, reports, and prepare tender documentation for approval by the Project Leader
Provide service excellence
Compliance with Quality Management System
Contribution to efficiency and effectiveness of sector
Qualifications:
BSc/BTech – Civil Engineering
0 - 2 years relevant experience
Civil 3D and Civil Designer
AutoCAD
SolidWorks will be to an advantage
MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook
