Leading construction company based in Somerset West in need of a Jnr Civil Engineer with a minimum of 3 – 4 years' experience within the construction industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to Construction Managers in the planning, construction, and management of Civil Engineering projects. This individual must be practically inclined and have experience working on construction sites.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Read and review project drawings and plans
Assist managers in planning and managing the work programme
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders (Client Representatives, Engineers, Construction Managers, and Contracts Managers) relating to design team refinements and negotiation of modifications as required
CAD draughting of temporary works
Surveying and setting out of structures
Supervising and managing work activities
Responsible for resource and material management
Finding solutions to overcome unforeseen construction difficulties
Completing works to deadlines and quality standards
Attending site meetings
Assessing and managing safety protocols
Completing relevant client reports
Basic Programming (Ms Projects)
Qualifications:
Advanced Diploma / B.Tech (Construction Management) / B.Eng (Civil Engineering)
Minimum 3 – 4 years' experience working on medium to large sized pipeline construction projects
Registered with ECSA as Pr.Eng / Pr.Tech will be advantageous
Sound understanding of engineering codes and technical standards
CAD experience
Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English & Afrikaans)
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Excellent understanding of engineering concepts and application of knowledge
Good understanding of industry codes and standards
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Adaptability and flexibility to meet project demands
