The Faculty of Law is one of the oldest professional faculties at the University of Toronto. Today, it is one of the world's great law schools. The Faculty's rich academic programs are complemented by its many legal clinics and public interest programs. The Faculty of Law is housed in the elegant, state-of-the-art Jackman Law Building alongside two historical buildings, Flavelle House and Falconer Hall, on the St. George Campus in downtown Toronto.
Your opportunity:
The JD Academic Programs Officer provides support to the Faculty of Law's Associate Dean JD and the Office of the Associate Dean JD. The JD Academic Programs Officer will work closely with the Associate Dean, the Assistant Dean, Academic, and the Registrar to ensure clear communication of detailed information about Faculty courses to the law school community.
Your responsibilities will include: Applying and interpreting policies and procedures in decision-making independentlyLiaising with management to determine goals and prioritiesOverseeing day-to-day service delivery requirements and operational needsPreparing and disseminating curriculum cycle timetablesAdvising staff on program curriculum change policies and proceduresHandling sensitive and/or confidential informationDirecting the activities of a single ongoing staff-appointed employeeEssential Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.Minimum five (5) years' related administrative experience in support of a senior executive dealing with senior internal and external contacts, preferably in an academic environmentExperience interpreting policies/procedures and collective agreements.Demonstrated experience working on course changes, program requirements, policies and procedures.Demonstrated experience coordinating efficient administrative processes such as curriculum and academic timetabling.Experience liaising with senior administrators and faculty members, responding to and handling administrative matters of a complex and sensitive nature.Knowledge of the University environment, and experience administering and applying academic policies and establishing and maintaining effective office systems and protocols.Experience liaising with management to determine goals and priorities.Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and competing deadlines while maintaining tact and professionalism when dealing with faculty, staff, students and the general public.Experience supervising unionized staff and strong leadership skills.Strong computer skills particularly with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Strong attention to detail.Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.Ability to work independently and as a team member.Ability to build strong relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.Ability to exercise sound judgement and initiative in following established guidelines and procedures, demonstrated ability to understand, and explain, complex policies and procedures.Applicants are expected to show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.To be successful in this role you will be: DiplomaticMulti-taskerOrganizedSelf-directedTactfulNote: This is a term position until August 22, 2025.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 13 -- $84,813. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $108,463. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
