JOB TITLE: IT Technician

Purpose of the PositionThe IT Technician will be responsible for providing technical support to end-users, maintaining IT systems, and ensuring the smooth operation of hardware and software across the organization. This role involves troubleshooting a range of technical issues, configuring systems, and ensuring the security and reliability of IT infrastructure.
Minimum RequirementsGrade 12/MatricDiploma/Degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology or relevant qualifications in IT4-6 years in IT SupportCore ResponsibilitiesTroubleshooting and Resolving Technical Issues:Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network problems.Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, servers, and other devices.Assist users with technical issues related to software, printers, and peripherals.Installing and Configuring Systems:Set up and configure new hardware and software.Install operating systems, applications, and security updates.Configure and manage user accounts, permissions, and passwords.Network Management:Set up and maintain wired and wireless network connections.Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity issues.Assist in the management of firewalls, routers, switches, and other network equipment.System Maintenance and Upgrades:Perform regular system maintenance, including updates and backups.Ensure systems are up to date with the latest security patches and software updates.Manage hardware repairs and replacements when necessary.Ensuring Security and Data Protection:Implement and manage security measures like antivirus software, firewalls, and data encryption.Monitor systems for security threats and take corrective action as needed.Ensure that data backup procedures are followed, and systems are protected against data loss.Documentation and Reporting:Maintain accurate records of hardware and software inventory.Document troubleshooting steps and solutions for common issues.Create and update technical documentation for internal use.Supporting End-Users:Provide day-to-day technical support to employees and customers.Assist with setting up and training users on new systems or software.Respond to support tickets or helpdesk requests in a timely manner.Collaborating with IT Teams:Work with service providers on larger projects, such as system migrations or infrastructure upgrades.Collaborate with software developers, network administrators, and cybersecurity teams.Provide input on IT strategies and improvements.Managing IT Equipment:Manage the lifecycle of IT equipment, including procurement, setup, and decommissioning.Ensure hardware, such as computers, printers, and servers, is functioning optimally.Compliance and Best Practices:Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements (e.g., data protection laws).Follow best practices in IT management and cybersecurity.Suitable candidates to forward their applications (CVs and qualifications) to this email address: ******, or via our company website www.njiloconsulting.co.za on recruitment, upload your CV and check for more opportunities available.
