The successful individual will be placed in Western Cape.Primary Purpose of the JobThe Technician is responsible for monitoring, maintaining and upgrading the computer systems and networks.The day-to-day responsibilities will include installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware and software faults and solving technical and application problems.Duties and ResponsibilitiesServing as the first point of contact for IT support within the organization.Installing, configuring and maintaining software and hardware components of the computer and network systems.Installing and maintaining network cabling on new projects and moves.Identifying and resolving software and hardware problems.Repairing and replacing damaged computer and network components.Effectively installing and upgrading antivirus and firewall software, switches.Upkeep and monitoring of UPS, Digi ports, routes and Wi-Fi connectivity.Updating technical documentation regularly.Testing new hardware and software prior to full installation.Providing effective remote and on-site IT assistance to end users, clients and sister companies.Overtime, including weekends and hours beyond 195, may be necessary.Supporting Dr. Network by changing devices as required.Ordering and managing printer toners, logging printer services and faults.Assisting in setting up Mitel phones for new users.Working through daily tickets that are logged.Actioning and updating tickets logged with accuracy within the required SLA time.Mapping operational drives (apart from HR).Assisting with asset monitoring and procurements.Moving of cabinets and switches.Reporting any network errors and problems to the Network specialist or team.Reporting any mistakes or issues that prevent the fulfilment of tasks.Assisting with annual and monthly stock take.Responsible for keeping the IT storeroom neat and managing IT consumables, parts and stock.Keeping track of and documenting each IT purchase that enters the premises using an asset register.Assisting with IPs and general DVR inquiries.Adhoc DutiesPerform any adhoc duties that may be required by the department or business.Minimum RequirementsQualificationsGrade 12National Diploma IT or relevantCCNAMicrosoft Certified IT ProfessionalOwn VehicleRequired ExperienceExtensive knowledge of computer software and hardware.Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in Excel and Word.Familiarity with operating systems, networks and internet applications.Setting up infrastructure and network points.Printer applications.Network troubleshooting.Microsoft Office and Windows.Ideal ExperienceServer applications.Backup systems.Network fault finding and tracking.Role RequirementsIT knowledge / troubleshooting and support.Overtime when required.CompetenciesCapacity for problem-solving.The ability to function well independently and in a team.Detail-oriented.Sound judgment / logical thinking.Interpersonal skills for frequent interaction with clients or colleagues.The capacity to organize your job.The ability to clearly communicate a technical issue to a client or colleague.Excellent listening and questioning abilities.Adaptability.Effective listening, tolerance, empathy, conflict resolution abilities, written and verbal communication skills, and a focus on customer service.
