About the roleIn this role you will be solely responsible for the IT needs of a 50-person organization. Caribou Digital is a global, fully remote consulting firm with a diverse set of tools used for program delivery and internal operations. You will wear many hats, but primarily serve as the lead technical resource across all programming and internal use cases at Caribou Digital. This is a role for someone who is organized, methodical, and process-oriented, and is able to roll up their sleeves and do the work that needs to be done.
Depending on the skill set of the candidate, this could be a 0.5 FTE role up to 1.0 FTE (full time), but in all cases is a contractor position. It is a fully remote role that can be fulfilled from anywhere that is +3/-3 hours of UTC.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide internal IT support (50%)Oversee administration of our core business SaaS, including Google Workspace, Slack, and Notion, ensuring optimal configuration, security, and compliance with industry best practices.Assist staff with their system-related inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and providing guidance on how to effectively use all relevant services and resources.Support in technical onboarding and offboarding, ensuring staff have the requisite access and permission levels as dictated by the business.Manage all software licensing and billing, including procurement and tools for staff to understand what software is available.Serve as the primary point of contact for IT team across the organization, including representing the team with to senior leadership.Develop and maintain technical documentation, guidelines, training manuals and best practices for existing and forthcoming systems within the company.Deliver ongoing training on data protection and security for both new and existing employees, ensuring all team members are proficient and up-to-date with our tools and policies.Proactively keep up to date with the latest developments and advancements for company and industry systems, including researching and adopting the latest AI and tech innovations to enhance our systems and operations.Coordinate system architectures (20%)Develop and manage internal data analytics architecture for servicing client deliverables as well as internal use cases.Support internal initiatives to implement and configure back office systems, ensuring that business owners have technical guidance on compatibility, maintenance requirements, etc.Support procurement with technical suppliers to ensure consistent, cost-effective service delivery; this includes helping to write functional requirements, evaluating vendor proposals, and advising on cross-organization compatibility and technical roadmap.Provide data and technical services (20%)The strongest candidates will have technical skills beyond just tech administration. Candidates with web development or business intelligence (BI) skills would help us:
Support WordPress web development needs across the organization by managing small changes in content and functionality (e.g. modifying plug-ins).Maintain WordPress hosting environment and plugins, ensuring all systems are up-to-date and secure.Support data analytics and BI needs across the organization, including project performance and finance use cases.Manage data protection and compliance policies (10%)Maintain, update, and enforce data protection, privacy, disaster recovery, and related policies.Required qualificationsEducation
Bachelor's degree or equivalent.Experience
5+ years experience as an IT administrator or technician with primary responsibility for administering enterprise SaaS, including Google Workplace, Notion, and Slack.5+ years experience supporting both Mac OS and Windows OS desktop environments.Experience implementing enterprise back office software, e.g., HRIS, AP, CRM, etc., including the configuration and ongoing management.A working knowledge of Data Protection, including UK and EU GDPR.Skills and attributes
IT support ticket management.Enterprise SaaS configuration, including user provisioning and access management.Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.Self-motivated, team player, detail-oriented, and well-organized.Experience working remotely by oneself.Based in a time zone +/- 3 hours from UTC.Desired qualificationsWeb development skills, e.g., HTML/CSS, JavaScript, React would be a very strong plus.BI data analytics skills, e.g., SQL, R, Power BI, Tableau, Looker.Familiarity with basic LLM tools and use cases.Experience managing data protection policies.About Caribou DigitalCaribou Digital delivers fund management, learning partnerships, and research, advisory, and measurement services to organizations worldwide.
