Job Purpose The IT Service Specialist for Service Assets and Configuration Management role is to provide support for the service management function of Discovery Bank's IT infrastructure. This involves formulating and maintaining the policies, procedures and practices for service asset and configuration management and performing the necessary management and monitoring to ensure mature IT Service Management practices in line with applicable policies. The role specifically includes managing and monitoring the IT assets and configuration items within the IT environment.
Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to Process
Software Licensing Manage software asset management process and practices. Maintain a register of all licensed software that is procured and used. Accurately track software deployment and license usage across the enterprise (end user, server, network, storage, management, application etc.) Manage interactions with software vendors and ensure that all obligations are carried out on time and minimise any exposure to the organisation (anniversary dates, license renewal dates and obligations, license audits, true-up engagements etc.) Ensure that all licensed software in use in the business is adequately licensed and minimise financial and legal exposure to the business. Establish and lead an awareness regime on software license management and acceptable usage policies for software. Ensure that all technical teams are aware of their obligations to ensure only authorised software is used in the environment and are aware of the legal, contractual, and financial implications of using unlicensed and/or unauthorised software. Manage and enforce configuration management policies, standards, and procedures to control the lifecycle of configuration items. Oversee the population of the CMDB with accurate and up-to-date information about IT assets, configuration items, and their relationships. Maintain standards for CI types, attributes, types of relationships, high-level CIs. Conduct audits and assessments to validate the accuracy and completeness of CMDB data. Produces reports and management information, including configuration status reports and impact analysis. IT Asset Management Manage asset discovery, inventory data management and reporting. Maintain IT hardware asset lifecycle practices, reporting, and analysis. Optimize usage and cost of IT asset deployments. Monitoring and report on IT asset useful life status. Monitor, evaluate and report on IT asset warranty status ensuring that all IT assets remain under support. Leadership and teamwork Work with internal colleagues to ensure they have the appropriate information and knowledge at hand to be successful in what they do. Facilitate and guide activities involving cross-functional teams to achieve outputs and objectives. Provide periodic reports on performance against plan & progress on medium-term initiatives & use to realign operating plan and objectives appropriately. Proactively identify interconnected problems, develop and model alternative solutions as well as contingency plans. Continuously identify areas of improvement that will enhance efficiency. GOVERNANCE

Personal Attributes and Skills Strong knowledge of IT Infrastructure technologies and processes Strong knowledge of IT Service Management and processes Data analysis, modelling and reporting Ability to engage at all levels of seniority (including Executive Management) Decisiveness and Influencing Others Effective Business Communication Functional Policies and Procedures Strategic Planning and Reporting. Ability to carry out assigned tasks independently with little supervision. Education and Experience Relevant Tertiary Qualification At least 8 years' experience in IT Service Management Solid experience in compiling of reports and presentation Formal certification is IT Financial management would be advantageous.
