Job Purpose The IT Server & Storage Specialist will be responsible for delivering IT server and storage processes including administering, installing and implementing data server and storage infrastructure (including the management and monitoring of the data centre); providing advice and support for the installing, testing and maintaining of server and storage components, ensuring that the Data Centre is kept within a pre-defined standard, administering and maintaining the unit's active directory (AD) services, maintaining an adequate spare parts inventory of systems, subsystems and component parts used in repair work and that the necessary data protection procedures, including backups, restores and archiving are implemented in line with agreed service levels and in a manner that is professional, reliable, and in line with business and regulatory requirements.
Education BTech or Equivalent MCSE Server Infrastructure CompTIA Server+ Certification Accredited Dell Data Center Technologies training
Experience Minimum of 4 years relevant IT industry experience Experience with the deployment of large scale production virtualisation systems Experience in storage area networks (SAN) Experience with Project Management Methodologies is an advantage

Key Performance Deliver and maintain a secure and reliable IT server and storage infrastructure to ensure uptime and ensure there is no disruption to the guest experience within the business from a technology perspective Monitor IT server and storage technology and ensure any challenges in implementation within business operations is corrected Conduct feasibility studies, business cases, risk assessments, writes proposals, and creates functional requirements for new and major changes to existing equipment Monitor capacity to ensure a consistent view on the availability, performance and general maintenance of the servers and storage environment Review, update and monitor the required reference architectures and procedures and provide rationalisation for new server and storage virtualisation plans and data management technology as required Implement approved projects including the installation and upgrading of server components Monitor the functioning and enhancements of server and storage and data management equipment and systems Address security and availability requirements in response to identified risks and in line with the organisation's data classification, information architecture, information security architecture and risk tolerance. Collaborate with the business in identifying needs, and develop technical specifications and requirements to achieve the expected outcomes Provide the technical design, installation, maintenance, upgrade, configuration and support of the IT server and storage infrastructure environment Conduct regular aging analysis of equipment to allow for budget planning or warranty considerations Monitor Microsoft licenses as they relate to server operating systems and SQL deployments aligned to the Sun International Licensing agreement/s Create standards documents for a pristine server and storage environment Monitor maintenance tasks performed by each property.
