Purpose of jobWork in collaboration with more senior members of the team to offer meaningful analysis and support to successfully manage a suit of portfoliosProviding portfolio analytics services in relation to discretionary managed clientsMonitor and assess incumbent and current managers alongside the portfolio managers and investment research teamsUnderstands the construction of client portfolios and products that target different kinds of investment objectivesEnsure that portfolios are kept up to date on relevant systems and that Portfolio Managers instructions are executed accurately and in a timely mannerAnalyse and monitor the exposures and risks around these portfolios on an ongoing basis.Provide support to the Portfolio Management teamQualifications Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree which can be FAIS recognisedB.Com., B.Bus.Sci, B.Sc.
(Maths, Accounting, Statistics, Finance, Engineering, Physics) or equivalent.Open to other tertiary qualifications depending on experience and evidence of quantitative abilities.Experience 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in investments in a multi-managerWill be required to be a FAIS compliant representative or work towards obtaining that statusOther key relationships Global Investment CommitteeAsset Allocation TeamManager ResearchResearch and Development teamAnalysts responsible for reporting teamKey competencies Understanding of macroeconomicsPortfolio construction and manager research experience beneficialHave an understanding of key risk, performance and attribution conceptsSafeguards integrity of sensitive client dataDeals with large quantities of portfolio and market dataUnderstanding of portfolio and instrument level informationStrong analytical skillsProblem solving / solutions focused ability and mindsetFlexibility and adaptability to ensure delivery of outputs and to ensure that a high quality standard is maintained at all timesStrong working knowledge of Microsoft ExcelUse of Morningstar, Bloomberg, FactSet and programming languages like R, Python, Matlab advantageous.Monthly/daily tasks Generation, interpretation and analysis of various analyses which would be useful to the Portfolio ManagersClient report back presentation generation and checkingCommunication with clients and responding to report queriesMonthly and quarterly retrieval, validation, reconciliation, analysis and preparation of dataData interrogation and analysisDevelop an understanding of the market, risks and tools as well as systems used.Aid in the construction and monitoring of portfoliosUnderstanding and regular monitoring of investment managers held in our productsDevelop an understanding of all portfolios they work onClient and internal report generationChecking of reports generated by other AnalystsInterpretation and analysis of report results
