Investment Associate

Purpose of the roleAs part of the Multi-Management: Private Markets team; the incumbent will assist the Head of Multi-Management: Private Markets in providing leadership and strategic vision for the fund investment businessRequirements:BCom/BBusSci (Hons) Financial Management, Finance, Investment Management or BSc (Hons) or related equivalent qualificationPost graduate qualification (Masters, MBA, etc.).
CFA or CA(SA) would be advantageous3 to 5 years investment experience.
Private equity, Fund of Funds or multi-manager experience would be advantageousPrivate equity industry knowledgeFAIS RE 05 Certificate or must be obtained within 6 months of employmentDuties:Deal sourcing – assist in identifying investment partners and opportunitiesDeal screening – desktop analysis of investment opportunitiesPreparation of preliminary scoping reportsAssist the transaction lead throughout the whole investment processAssist in conducting and coordinating due diligence on potential investment opportunitiesAssist the transaction lead in structuring and pricing of transactionsAssist the transaction lead in negotiation of term sheetsPreparation of appraisal reportsReview and comment on transaction agreementsParticipate in the implementation and disbursement processAssist the transaction lead in the handover of approved transactions to various divisions including portfolio managementOngoing monitoring of a portfolio of funds, including review of quarterly reports, valuation, risk management, compliance, and reportingParticipate in the exit process for transactionsCompetencies and skills:Investment AnalysisBasic Financial Modelling SkillsPlanning and Organising SkillsTime managementResearch and Analytical SkillsCommercial SkillsWriting and Presentation SkillsInterpersonal and Communication SkillsProblem solving
