POSITION STATEMENT The Link Build Technician is responsible for completing links. This includes time management, assignments, quality assurance, effectiveness, and ensuring all teams comply with the Britelinkmct & DFA standards. The Link Coordinator is required to provide daily reporting on escalations of non-compliance by technicians.
KEY COMPETENCIES Problem solving skills Interpersonal skills Decision making skills Time management skills Team management skills People management skills Communication skills Assertiveness Ability to work in a high-paced, rapidly changing environment Ability to handle pressure Multi-tasking Excellent coordination skills KEY PERFORMANCE AREA Experience in FTTB Fibre Networks High level of experience in Fibre on existing infrastructure Excellent skills to repair Fibre Cable and Splice Enclosures to the highest standards Strong ability to route fibre in Splice Enclosures and Slack Bins without any damage High level of experience with Splice Diagrams and the ability to read and splice accordingly Expert knowledge of fibre tools and their correct usage Expert experience in Fusion splicing methodology, Splice Machine care, and the usage of Fusion Splicing Machines (3-4 years) Experience in Fibre testing procedures and ability to use Power Meter, Light Source, and OTDR (IOLM) (Bi-directional) testing and analyze results on site (3-4 years) Ability to conduct extensive fault-finding on existing Fibre Networks Networking experience Experience in labelling of Fibre as per plans and different labelling conventions Experience in reporting on online platforms as work is being done daily Ability to identify problems on new networks and report immediately Experience in underground work and ability to read plans Ability to compile reports and report on progress daily Ability to compile schedules and monitor progress Ability to train assistants on all the different facets of Link Build Networks Keep an updated register of material used and consolidate monthly forecasts of future usage Assist with Core Network splicing Experience in Fibre installations Experience in Node splicing and patching QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Grade 12 or equivalent qualification Certificate or diploma in fibre network operations is advantageous At least 3 years in a call centre or customer relations environment MS Office skills, including Excel, Word, Email, and internet
