We are seeking a motivated and skilled Junior Draftsman with at least 3 years of experience to join our growing team. This position is initially remote but will transition to an onsite role at our premises in the future. The ideal candidate should have experience in joinery drafting, possess strong technical skills, and demonstrate proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp and Excel. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently while efficiently creating and managing cutting lists and orders are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create detailed joinery drawings and technical plans using AutoCAD/SketchUp.
- Develop and manage cutting lists for manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Collaborate with the design and production teams to ensure that drawings meet project specifications and client requirements.
- Assist in ordering materials and supplies based on project requirements and cutting lists.
- Conduct quality checks on drawings to ensure precision and compliance with industry standards.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to track the status of orders and ensure timely delivery.
- Maintain organized project documentation and update any changes in design or materials.
- Willingness to work on weekends if required
- Important: A clear criminal record is required
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of drafting experience, with a focus on joinery and cabinetry design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp for creating accurate and detailed drawings.
- General computer skills with strong skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to develop and understand cutting lists and their use in production.
- Knowledge of materials and processes used in joinery and cabinetry work.
- Detail-oriented with a technical mindset with a strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Self-starter with good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must own a laptop to start work remotely before transitioning to an onsite position.
- Understanding of industry standards and regulations related to joinery.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to new tools and processes.
- Proficiency in English (Afrikaans advantageous)
