Job DescriptionA reputable accounting firm seeks to employ an Intermediate Accountant to join their dedicated team. The role involves regular communication with clients and ensuring that their financial needs are met through efficient bookkeeping, reconciliations, and understanding their business activities and challenges. Suitable candidates need to have a degree or diploma in Accounting or finance with a minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a similar role.Responsibilities:Collation & Review: Gather all vouchers that meet VAT criteria and process payments as reflected on bank statements.Journal Entries: Process all required journal entries and maintain accurate records.Data Capturing: Enter all data needed for the preparation of management accounts.Management Accounts: Produce, review, and distribute client management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, including balance sheet reconciliations.Client Reviews: Analyse and review client management accounts, highlight any concerns (e.g., actual vs. budget, debtor/creditor days), and address issues with clients.Payroll & Reconciliation: Prepare and submit client payrolls and related reconciliations promptly.Statutory Returns: Produce and file client statutory returns (PAYE, VAT, etc.) and related reconciliations.Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile all client bank accounts and ensure accurate tracking of transactions from bank statements and petty cash.Cashbook Preparation: Compile and maintain a cashbook, ensuring a full understanding of the clients' business activities.Client Interaction: Respond to client queries via email/telephone in a timely manner, providing excellent service and maintaining strong relationships.Year-End Files: Accurately compile physical year-end files and ensure timely preparation of annual financial statements.Compliance & Internal Policies: Submit timesheets and comply with internal company policies, staying up to date with any technical issues.Requirements:Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant working experience in accounting.Solid bookkeeping knowledge and technical competence.Proficiency with Pastel Accounting and strong computer skills, particularly in Excel.Knowledge of XERO (advantageous).Prior experience in drafting annual financial statements using Caseware and/or Draftworx.Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.Ability to adapt to different client needs and maintain effective team collaboration.Client relationship management skills with the ability to address client concerns and queries efficiently.
