RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for overseeing and managing plant instrumentation, day-to-day plant instrumentation and process control troubleshooting and repairs on site, carrying out scheduled process control instrumentation equipment calibration and testing to minimize plant downtime and maintain plant integrity in compliance with OHS Act and Group requirements.Supervising instrumentation contractors' work on site in compliance with OHS Act requirements.Documenting all calibration and testing records both electronically and on paper.Mentoring and overseeing the training of instrument learners as part of the workplace experience program.Designing, specifying, and implementing industrial electronics, instrumentation, and control loops on capital projects, including commissioning.Troubleshooting electrical problems and managing electrical contractors on site.Maintaining the plant's Distributed Control System and keeping updated DCS backups.Performing duties of a Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) and ensuring safe handling and control of radioactive sources as per the Group IV Hazardous Substance Act, 1973.Communicating effectively at all organization levels and with suppliers to arrange spares, equipment repairs, and services.Preparing and managing instrumentation section expenditure to budget.Managing store stock holding for Instrument and DCS spares, including monthly stock take and recording.Conducting inspections of site portable electrical equipment and maintaining inspection records.Maintaining plant radios and radio inspection records.Being accountable for ISO9001/14001, Responsible Care, and OHS Act within the sphere of responsibility.Being prepared to be on standby and work overtime.Performing a range of site maintenance activities to support others or achieve pre-established outcomes.Troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment and systems for emergency repairs and carrying out preventive maintenance inspections.Providing operational support services and sometimes acting as a first-line supervisor of a transactional operations area.Supervising a team performing routine work.Designing monthly schedules and, if necessary, assigning work to others to speed up office workflow and ensure high-priority tasks are completed.REQUIREMENTSNational Diploma in Engineering Light Current S4/T3/N6 (Instrumentation)Red seal trade test in InstrumentationMust be computer literate with DCS or PLC experienceExperience:10 years in Chemical plant – Instrumentation5 years in Petrochemical – InstrumentationPersonal Skills & Traits:Fault Finding and problem resolution (technically skilled to solve complex control system faults)Planning and execution (Accuracy with detail, efficiency, planning, and organizing)Very good English communication skills (Verbal communication, listening, and written communication)Positive Attitude (Motivation, confidence, and development orientation)Computer skills (Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, OPMIST maintenance information system)Own transport and a valid driver's license are mandatoryProactive team player, Excellent interpersonal skillsSound experience and understanding of straightforward procedures or systemsBasic experience of coordinating the work of othersWorks without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on planning, organizing, prioritizing, and overseeing activities to efficiently meet business objectivesWorks without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on developing, monitoring, interpreting, and understanding policies and procedures, ensuring they align with organizational strategies and objectivesUses clear and effective verbal communication skills without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on expressing ideas, requesting actions, and formulating plans or policiesWorks with guidance (but not constant supervision) to develop appropriate plans or perform necessary actions based on recommendations and requirementsWorks with guidance (but not constant supervision) to review and create relevant, lucid, and effective reportsManages and applies safe systems of work without supervision and provides technical guidance when required
