We are now looking for an Instrument Technician to be based in Estcourt Factory.
In this role you will be responsible for driving improvements and performance of machinery and assets, reporting to the Automation Engineer.
Maintenance of instrumentation onsite to ensure 100% compliance with food safety standards and Plant Asset Intensity.
Attending to instrumentation faults and breakdowns in the factory as well as calibration instrumentation (Pressure, Level, Temperature, Flow, etc.).
Good instrumentation understanding and be able to communicate properly and openly.
Need to be a good problem solver and have the drive to excel.
A day in the life of an Instrument Technician:Carries out planned maintenance in allocated sections as instructed by Team Leader.Reports all defects found and proposes remedial action.Utilizes trade skills in a professional manner, working cleanly, precisely, and ensuring others that work with him/her do the same.Completes and signs work sheets after completion of each task daily.Completes the defect list and/or check list as instructed by Automation Engineer.Ensures that all instruments are calibrated, and an instrument calibration system is updated after each calibration.Ensures that all tags related to a particular instrument are displayed clearly and instruments are cleaned and in good order.Attends to breakdowns and assists Electrical or Mechanical on problem solving where needed.Performs quick and efficient fault finding, thinking and performing under pressure.
Regular feedback to Automation Engineer.Makes quick and healthy decisions based on critical and priority activities.After completion of the repairs, tests machine or equipment and communicates.Is proactive and prevents breakdowns.Must be willing to do Standby and shift work when necessary.What will make you successful?N6 Instrumentation with Trade or National Diploma in Instrumentation2 years' experience in instrumentationGood interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and under pressure.Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
