The Department of Economics ranks among the top economics departments internationally and is ranked number one in Canada. Nearly 70 per cent of all students take at least one course in economics during their undergraduate studies and our faculty is committed to educating and inspiring them all. Teaching and research in our department span a wide range of fields including theory, applied data analysis and econometric methodology. Located in the downtown core of Canada's largest city, our department is immersed in a rich environment of rapidly expanding business and financial capital.
Under the general supervision of the Associate Chair, Undergraduate Studies and in consultation with faculty and lecturers, the incumbent is responsible for providing administrative support for the teaching of Economics course, particularly for first and second-year courses.
Your responsibilities will include: Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriateDisseminating program and/or service informationCoordinating the submission process of student grades/marksCoordinating the preparation and distribution of program and/or course materialCoordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, actions and follow-up itemsProofreading and fact-checking contentEditing programs and service materialLiaising with stakeholders to coordinate space and resource requirementsEssential Qualifications: Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.Minimum two years of recent and related experience providing administrative support to university faculty, TAs, and staff in the coordination of labs for first and second-year coursesExperience proofreading and formatting lecture notes, problem sets, tests and examsDemonstrated experience using software to scan and prepare tests/exams for markingDemonstrated experience working with databases and surveys and generating reportsExperience working with and providing information to undergraduate studentsDemonstrated experience applying academic policies and processesExperience organizing and planning of meetings and eventsWell-developed and strong interpersonal skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills and the ability to multi-taskAdvanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Access ROSI and CrowdmarkAbility to work effectively as a team memberTo be successful in this role you will be: AdaptableGoal orientedOrganizedTactfulTeam playerPlease note this is a TERM position ending in January 2026.
