The core purpose of this role is to enhance the research capabilities of postgraduate students and contribute to the IRU by conducting comprehensive data analyses. This position focuses on training postgraduate students in research methodologies, designing effective research instruments, and generating insights from data to drive institutional improvement.Core Functions IncludeInstitutional ResearchReview and refine institutional survey instruments to ensure they are accurate and appropriate for collecting meaningful data.Engage with and analyze institutional surveys to extract valuable insights that inform decision-making.Academic SupportObtain and present relevant data at program and module levels to facilitate academic review and management.Conduct research activities aimed at understanding institutional challenges and identifying opportunities for improvement.Gather and analyze benchmarking data to support institutional development.Reporting and Dashboard DevelopmentProduce temporal reports for cyclical surveys, highlighting trends and patterns over time.Write reports related to surveys, benchmarking, and other research activities.Create and maintain visual representations of institutional data through dashboards.Data AnalysisConduct rigorous analysis of qualitative and quantitative data for specific projects, generating comprehensive reports and findings.Insight GenerationProvide well-crafted written reports that accurately interpret data analyses, supporting the institution in making informed decisions.Research Methodology TrainingDevelop and deliver workshops focused on research methodologies for postgraduate students undertaking the report/dissertation component of their programs.Ensure continuous improvement of training content to align with quality enhancement goals and feedback from internal reviewers, supervisors, and external examiners.Organize and conduct six training workshops annually (September to August), focusing on areas identified for facilitation.Review and adapt training content based on participant feedback to ensure it meets the evolving needs of postgraduate students.Collaboration and PlanningWork closely with Research Directorate managers to conceptualize and develop a research training plan tailored to the needs of postgraduate students.General AdministrationProvide logistical and administrative assistance to support the smooth operation of the IRU.Minimum RequirementsQualificationsEssential Qualification: Master's degree in a relevant field, demonstrating advanced knowledge of research methodologies and data analysis.Preferred Qualification: A full research Master's degree, indicating a deep understanding of independent research and publication processes.ExperienceEssential Experience: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques. A track record of working in a data processing and analysis environment, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.Preferred Experience: Experience in teaching and publishing within an academic or research-focused setting, showcasing the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.Competencies and SkillsTechnical Skills: Proficiency in SPSS statistical software, enabling effective data analysis and interpretation. Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word. Familiarity with NVivo for qualitative data analysis and experience in presenting qualitative findings.Communication and Presentation: Excellent interpretative and presentation skills, capable of conveying data insights clearly and persuasively. Strong administrative and communication skills, essential for effective collaboration with stakeholders.Experience in Higher Education: At least 2 years of experience in a data processing and analysis environment, with 1 year of experience in a higher education setting.Survey and Questionnaire Design: Experience in designing and implementing surveys and questionnaires, ensuring they are effective tools for data collection.Additional Requirements: Willingness to work weekends and/or overtime when required. Special or ad-hoc projects may be allocated as determined by the institution's operational requirements.
