This will entail general New Product Development functions and the administration associated with the role. Predominantly based in Cape Town with occasional travel domestically and regionally. The candidate must have a proven track record with technical experience in working with key specialty ingredients, namely flavours, vitamins, functional ingredients and premixes/ compounds. The ability to lead a team of food scientists whilst working with your own projects is imperative. Food Science background with 5 years' experience is a pre-requisite. New Product Development Lead a team to provide the best solutions possible when presenting applied samples. Compile presentations to support concept innovations. Research and develop new potential ingredients that could be beneficial to the growth of the Company Present to colleagues on new concepts and trends. Process sample requests from suppliers in order to fulfill briefs. Weekly meetings to discuss pipeline projects. Compile reports and project data Storage of documents and formulations in a systematic and secure manner Fully responsible for the technical input provided to customers Production Responsible for Research & Development for the continuous improvement of our production facility. Up to date trends and techniques Ability to upscale trial into full production Produce necessary supporting documentation for each product Liaise with the relevant authorities to gain acceptance on health and religious clearances (Kosher, Halaal and alike) Oversee production in all aspects on a daily basis Retain samples and keep accurate records for each batch produced Candidate RequirementsResponsible for Research & Development for the continuous improvement of our production facility.
