This job evaluates quality of patient care and patient outcomes related to healthcare-associated infections, collects, prepares and analyzes healthcare associated infection data, presents infection data and makes recommendations for actions and monitors employee compliance in use of barrier precautions and infection prevention measures.
Prepares and presents educational offerings for staff; serves as a resource to all departments and personnel, implements programs to protect the healthcare workers, visitors, and others in the healthcare environment, sets and recommends policies and procedures to prevent adverse events.

Education
Required - Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Public Health, Medical Technology, Biology, or related health sciences field or Registered Nurse with current State of Louisiana RN License
Work Experience
Required - 5 years Nursing or healthcare managerial experience.
Preferred - Infection Control experience
Certifications
Preferred - Certification in Infection Control within 2 year of hire or BSN
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of required job information.
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, keyboard, and various software programs specific to role.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout required job processes.
Knowledge of infectious disease process, patient care practices, aseptic technique and other principles of infection transmission and prevention.
Organizational skills including the ability to multi-task.
Job Duties Interpret and implement regulatory agencies laws, regulations and standards Conduct surveillance activities to identify infections.
Maintains Accurate Documentation Provide ongoing infection control education to all health care workers Assures Committee participation Maintains Performance Improvement activities Maintains Professional Development and Competency.
Other related duties as required.
