A multinational payments firm operating across Africa is currently seeking an Indirect Tax Manager to join their expanding team at their Cape Town offices.
Joining a dynamic Finance Department, as the Indirect Tax Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring tax compliance, with a particular focus on indirect taxes and delivering tax reporting requirements. This will include effective tax risk management within an ever-evolving regulatory landscape.
The Indirect Tax Manager role requires an innovative and forward-thinking individual who has a strong ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment while collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing expert advice on tax-related matters.
Key qualifications and experience required for the Indirect Tax Manager: Postgraduate Qualification in Accounting or Tax Registered as a Professional Tax Practitioner or Certification in VAT is preferred 5 years' experience in a tax role with essential experience in VAT and indirect taxes Proven leadership experience Strong track record in managing tax projects, audits, and providing tax advice Proficiency in Corporate Tax and VAT legislation including VAT apportionment Knowledge of global tax regulations with focus on Africa, accounting standards (IFRS) and compliance requirements Key duties of the Indirect Tax Manager: Contribute to the development and implementation of global tax processes and policies Provide guidance on the tax implications of business decisions and transactions Manage various tax projects aimed at optimising our tax position, mitigating risks, and enhancing tax efficiency Undertake VAT and other tax reconciliations, advising on adjustments and financial impact Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax regulations Prepare, review and coordinate VAT returns, and other VAT-related reports across multiple jurisdictions Identify potential areas of tax risk and implement mitigation strategies Supervise and mentor junior tax team members Key personal skills: Effective communication and engagement with stakeholders at all levels Collaborative team player Strong leadership abilities Driven, ambitious and business-savvy Excellent interpersonal skills Time management, goal setting and value creation focus Strong analytical skills, initiative and resilience If you are a dynamic and driven tax professional looking to be part of a "best in class" finance function and at the heart of a hugely impressive business, then please get in touch for a discussion about this role.
