Independent Trustee

A minimum of 5 years experience with executive management, trust governance, Board and Audit, and/or Risk and Compliance Committee.2.Required Skills:- Strong financial aptitude- Strong financial reporting- Understanding of community development- Sound knowledge of the law applicable to Trusts and a good understanding of the fiduciary duties of an Independent Trustee.Duties and responsibilities:- take all reasonable steps to fulfil the mandate of the Trust and to ensure that the interests of the Trust and beneficiaries are protected at all times;- act with due care, diligence and good faith;- To declare any conflict of interest;- Act with impartiality in respect of all programmes and beneficiaries;- To act in accordance with the rules of the Deed of Trust.MeetingsThere are four Board meetings during each financial year, and all trustees should attend unless there is a valid reason for non-attendance. Trustees are expected to contribute meaningfully at meetings.
