Imports Buyer

The main purpose of this role is to support the Imports department in maintaining appropriate inventory levels and executing cost reduction initiatives for products and sea freight.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about international procurement and accustomed to working within a complex supply chain.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
§ Plan, prepare, quantify and generate orders to meet the demand (System & Excel based).
§ Monitor and react to changes in the supply chain effectively and timeously.
§ Shipment costings.
§ Maintain the System and data templates.
§ Monitor, escalate and action supplier non-conformance.
§ Prep and manage vendor payments.
§ Liaise with agents on VOCs and tariff determinations.
§ Maintain and update new and current supplier database.
§ Support the execution of new product development.
§ Letter of authority applications and levy returns
§ Shipment tracking.
§ Liaise with freight agent, manage the importation delivery schedule.
Escalate risks to shipments arrivals and manage the local delivery schedule nationally.
§ Manage freight rates and documentation.
§ Maintain log sheet for service delivery.
§ Update System and planning schedules accurately and timeously with ETDs & ETAs and payment dates.
§ Distribute the information to the relevant stakeholders.
§ Expediting and checking for compliance for foreign and local payment documentation.
§ Maintaining Import files for Auditor compliance.
§ Keeping schedules updated with relevant product customs duties.
§ Stock queries in relation to ETAs.
Education & Experience Requirements
§ Tertiary qualification preferred but not essential (NQF 5 supply chain management)
§ 3 - 4 years experience in a similar role in Imports/procurement/shipping
§ Solid understanding of incoterms (FOB + EXW + CFR) - MANDATORY
§ Exposure to fast moving consumer goods is advantageous.
§ Excel skills, process driven, mathematically inclined.
