POSITION SUMMARYReporting to the Human Resources Operations Manager, the successful incumbent will engage with all departments of the business.
You will be responsible to assist HR leadership in building and sustaining positive internal and external relationships with associates, management, and external business partners.
You will support the HR department and the business by performing a generalist role within the Human Resources discipline, including but not limited to HR Administration, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Employee Wellness Initiatives, and HR Projects in accordance with Marriott International policies and procedures and local law, whilst maintaining confidentiality as well as quality and standards of the Westin Cape Town Hotel within a pressurized environment.What we offer:Market related salaryLearning and development opportunities through online platforms, on-the-job training, and classroom-based courses.Discounts on hotel rooms, food and beverage, and spa within the Marriott International portfolioWellbeing activities and sustainability initiatives through the Take Care and Serve 360 programsOn Property Associate Café mealMedical Aid Company ContributionProvident Fund Company ContributionAssociate Uniform and Laundry serviceEmployee Assistance/Well-being ProgramRequired Experience & QualificationsDegree/diploma qualification in Human ResourcesPractical experience, exposure to broad aspects of Human Resources within an HR environment essentialExperience within a hotel HR environment preferableExcellent planning, organizational, and decision-making skillsConfidentiality, tact, diplomacy, and discretion essential when dealing with peopleAbility to multi-task and manage a demanding workload in a pressurized environmentAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, interpersonal skills, telephone, and email etiquetteHardworking, can-do attitude, ambitious, ability to use initiative and be proactiveProfessional dispositionAbility to work within a team and without supervisionExcellent problem-solving, planning, and organizing skillsAbility to meet deadlines and deliver resultsAble to deal effectively with all levels of staff including senior managementExtensive working knowledge in MS Office in all MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)Key ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations, accurate administration, adherence to HR processes and practices, and perform HR-related duties as required.Assist and support the HR team as requiredFacilitate the recruitment process from start to endAssist managers with IR-related matters and related administrationCo-ordinate and assist with disciplinary and grievance proceduresEnsure employee files are aligned to BCEA requirementsFacilitate onboarding or induction orientation as requiredAssist with the updating and maintenance of company policies and procedures as requiredAssist with monthly HR reportingAssist with accurate record keeping of HR information and statistics (i.e., staff turnover, employment equity, skills development, and training, etc.
)Updating and maintenance of company systems and policies and other administration activities (i.e., job profiles, contracts, and letters to employees)Assist with Employee Wellness, culture, and appreciation initiativesConduct onboarding and induction activities for new hiresEnsure Job Descriptions are updated and maintainedMaintain and validate all personnel records in HR Systems (mHUB)Assist with HR AuditsAssist with HR-related projects as requiredAssist with staff transport submissions and invoice reconciliation when requiredAssist with Learning and Development and Employment Equity related functions and initiatives as requiredEnsure company policies and procedures are adhered toDevelop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departmentsMarriott International is an equal opportunity employer.
