HSE Safety Manager / Lead (Construction) required a temporary assignment for our Petro-chemical client in Durban with a minimum of 8 years' experience in safety working on similar construction projects.
Key Accountabilities: - Do not overspend Project related budget and ensure accurate spend / use of monies to ensure funds are optimally utilised.
- Manage and implement safety policies and procedures to promote compliance and ensure that safety standards and regulations are complied with at all times.
- Effective use of HSE resources amongst the EIH/TRR departments and provide the necessary supports.
- Manage the implementation of safety programme across all sites within the RTT Project to promote a culture of safety (HSEQ) awareness and understanding.
- Strong focus on Contractor HSE Management.
Ensure that Contractor Management KPI are in place and regular engagement with contractors.
Implement new initiatives to improve contractor management.
- Coordinate the implementation of safety audits and assurance checks to ensure the HSE Regulatory requirements are adhered to.
- Proactive engagement with the Department of Labour to ensure compliance with Construction regulations.
- Ensure internal procedures are aligned with the Client's Technical Standards (ETS) and Mandatory Control Framework (MCF).
- Coordinate the process of risk assessments on site for all High Risk and Very High-Risk jobs/tasks to reduce risk to employees, plant and equipment.
- Participate in the investigation of safety related injuries and incidents and monitor the formulation and implementation of corrective actions to ensure hazards and risks are controlled and minimised.
- Review and coordinate the formulation and implementation of all HSE Alerts and Lessons Learnt.
- Present business safety performance indicators to Senior Management and formulate and monitor action plans to mitigate hazards and risks within work environment and reduce the frequency rates of injuries.
Generic Accountabilities: - Networking and Relationship Building - Leadership and Capability Development - COBE, POPI and ABC Policies - Good Governance - Mindset, Behaviour and Culture - HSEQ and ZETO Rules Qualifications: - BTech in Safety Management (NQF Level 7) - Bachelor's Degree (preferably Engineering / Science or related discipline) - HSE Project Management (advantageous) Experience: - Minimum 8 years' safety experience - Thorough knowledge of legislation (OHSAct 85 of 1993) - Thorough knowledge of legislation (Construction Regulations) - Knowledge of Incident Management - Petrochemical experience (highly advantageous) - HSE Project Management - Operational experience - Knowledge of Management Systems Working Conditions: - Avail yourself to support the facility during emergency or as required.
