HSE Controller Job DescriptionOur client, an FMCG concern in the Distillery sector, is looking for a HSE Controller to join their team.Duties & ResponsibilitiesManage security operations and access control, ensuring effective control measures are in place.Perform and assist with incident investigation and identification of root cause and corrective and preventative measures.Implement, maintain, and update an effective Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment programme.Liaise with Emergency Services.Ensure compliance and manage the Integrated Safety, Health, Environmental, Risk and Quality ISO System.Contribute towards HSE departmental goals and improvements to achieve best practices and standards.Oversee the site's safety and environmental meetings and standards.Responsible for contractor management and ensuring compliance.Conduct training, awareness, and orientation overviews and induction for staff and contractors.Support the Food Defense team activities.Ensure compliance with OSHACT and ISO14001 related standards.Detect, measure, monitor, and reduce non-conformances.Drive optimisation and improvement of HSE systems and processes which enhance safety, compliance, and reduce risks.Provide support and guidance to all staff, visitors, and contractors to minimise injuries and incidents and non-conformant behaviours.Drive and evaluate the effectiveness of the emergency response plans and loss prevention systems.Adhere to relevant HSE Policies, Procedures, Work instructions, and SOPs.Desired Experience & QualificationMinimum of Grade 12.Relevant National Diploma or Degree will be highly advantageous.Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and risk control standards i.e. OSH Act, Fire Prevention Standards, COID Act, Municipal & Building regulations, SABS codes, etc.Sound knowledge of Food Safety, Quality & Environmental Management Systems.Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and facilitate.Strong investigative and initiating skills.Ability to perform risk assessments.Ability to work independently and under pressure.Ability to influence management to follow risk management strategies.Networking skills (ability to engage stakeholders).Influencing/motivational skills.Leadership skills.Team player with strong relationship-building ability.Own reliable transport essential.
