Job Purpose
Join a small consultancy who are driven by making a difference. As a HR and Labour Consultant you will provide employee relations and human resources support to clients across different industries. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of labour relations and human resources, embedded in fair people practices with a passion for being client driven and solutions oriented.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations Consulting (ER)
• Advise and guide clients in respect of people related matters, including dealing with discipline, grievance, performance or ill health matters.
• Draft Employee Relations documentation, including warnings, hearing notices, and settlement agreements.
• Chair disciplinary hearings including drafting of findings and outcomes.
• Facilitate grievances, incapacity and poor performance processes.
HR Consulting
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients on all HR and people related matters.
• Attend to assignments in respect of service level agreements.
• Review and or draft policies, procedures and guidelines aligned to client needs.
• Review and or develop contracts of employments.
• Conduct HR audits and develop action plans to address gaps.
• Contribute to design of HR solutions, systems and processes aligned to client needs.
• Conduct stay / exit interviews, analyse trends and make recommendations.
Performance Management and Employee Development
• Develop job descriptions and person specifications.
• Contribute to development and implementation of performance management systems.
• Facilitate performance dialogues with line managers and employees to co-create objectives.
• Develop training and development plans.
• Prepare skills development reports.
Onboarding
• Develop onboarding systems and processes.
• Onboard new employees.
• Check-in with new team members in first 30 days.
• Facilitate probation review check-ins and probation process.
HR Administration and Reporting
• Prepare HR-related reports and metrics for clients.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client and employee records.
• Prepare minutes of meetings
• Support with equity planning and reporting
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Human Resources, Labour Relations, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of HR Generalist experience, with a strong focus on Labour or Employee Relations.
• Sound and applied knowledge of South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA)
• Experience in a consulting environment will be advantageous.
