Job Summary
The Housekeeping Supervisor at the 5 Star Lodge in Sabi Sands is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the housekeeping department. This includes ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are clean, well-maintained, and meet the lodge's high standards. The Housekeeping Supervisor also ensures that housekeeping staff are trained, motivated, and working efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision and Leadership:
Lead and manage the housekeeping team, including room attendants, public area attendants, and laundry staff.
Schedule and assign daily tasks to housekeeping staff.
Conduct daily briefings to communicate lodge standards, special requests, and daily operational needs.
Provide ongoing training and development for housekeeping staff to ensure high-quality service and adherence to lodge standards.
Quality Control:
Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas to ensure cleanliness and maintenance standards are met.
Address and resolve any guest complaints or issues related to housekeeping services promptly and professionally.
Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for housekeeping operations.
Inventory and Supplies:
Manage inventory levels of cleaning supplies, linens, and guest amenities.
Place orders for housekeeping supplies as needed and ensure proper storage and usage.
Monitor and control expenses to ensure adherence to the housekeeping budget.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure that housekeeping staff follow all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
Maintain compliance with local health and safety regulations.
Conduct regular safety training and drills for the housekeeping team.
Coordination with Other Departments:
Work closely with the front office, maintenance, and food and beverage departments to ensure seamless guest service and smooth operations.
Communicate effectively with other departments regarding guest requests, maintenance issues, and other operational needs.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate records of housekeeping activities, including room status, inventory, and staff attendance.
Prepare and submit reports on housekeeping performance and any incidents or issues.
Assist in the preparation of the housekeeping budget and manage departmental expenses.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional hospitality or management training preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in housekeeping within a luxury hospitality environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and work well under pressure.
Proficiency in using housekeeping management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
Capability to lift and carry heavy items, such as laundry and cleaning supplies.
Good physical stamina and overall fitness level.
