Their duties and responsibilities may include:Duties and Responsibilities:Food Preparation: Overseeing the preparation of hot meals according to store recipes, ensuring quality, freshness, and adherence to food safety standards.Inventory Management: Monitoring inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as needed to maintain stock levels, and minimising waste.Quality Control: Conducting regular quality checks on prepared meals to ensure they meet the store's standards for taste, presentation, and portion size.Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring a positive shopping experience in the HMR department.Compliance: Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, food handling guidelines, and sanitation standards, including proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas.Sales and Promotion: Developing strategies to increase sales and promote hot meal offerings, such as creating attractive displays, implementing promotions or discounts, and soliciting customer feedback.Collaborating with management to develop and update the HMR menu, considering factors such as seasonal availability, customer preferences, and cost-effectiveness.Budgeting and Cost Control: Monitoring expenses related to labor, ingredients, and supplies, and implementing cost-saving measures where possible to maximise profitability.Training and Development: Providing ongoing training and development opportunities for HMR staff to enhance their culinary skills, product knowledge, and customer service abilities.Working closely with other departments, such as purchasing, marketing, and store management, to coordinate activities and achieve overall store objectives.Minimum Requirements:Matric or equivalent requiredDegree or Diploma advantageousA sound knowledge of food preparation, ordering and costing is essentialPrevious experience in working for other food department storesDesired Skills:Communication SkillsFood Safety and HygieneA strong foundation in culinary techniques, including cooking methods, flavor profiles, and food presentation, is essential for overseeing the preparation of hot meals to meet quality standards and customer expectationsLeadership SkillsKindly note: All applications are to be submitted through the Careers Site and Pnet.
