We are dedicated to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion within our school community.POSITION OVERVIEW:The Inclusion Services Teacher will be responsible for managing the modified curriculum and personalized pathways for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They will work collaboratively with the rest of the Inclusion Services Team and General Educators to design pathways for students that maximize opportunities for students to participate with their general education peers and to be valued members of the AISJ community. The student programs will include academic, life, social, and vocational skills that will enable students to fulfill their personal academic goals to become as independent as possible. This will include futures (transition) planning as a key aspect of helping students to be prepared for postsecondary life.QUALIFICATIONSTeaching Degree with emphasis on intellectual and developmental disabilities, Masters preferredCurrent Teaching CertificatePREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEAbility to lead multidisciplinary teams to design Individualized Learning PlansExperience using assessments to set goals and design learning experiences for students with complex needsAbility to conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and create Behavior Intervention PlansUnderstanding of post-secondary transition planning and ability to facilitate futures planning for studentsAbility to modify core curriculum to provide opportunities for students to participate in general education classesExperience teaching students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an inclusive settingInternational Experience preferredExperience leading professional learning among teachersStrong collaboration and leadership skillsStrong organizational skillsHighly self-directedGENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESServe as case manager for students with intellectual and developmental disabilitiesCreate Individual Learning Plans and Pathways for studentsCoordinate futures (transition) planning for studentsCollaborate with general education colleagues to modify general education curriculumDesign and implement individualized curriculum for studentsManage the schedules and work of teaching partners supporting the studentsCommunicate with general education teachers proactively and consistently.Promote a positive learning environmentEngage in ongoing professional learning around inclusive educationLead professional learning at AISJ around inclusive educationContribute to the development of expanded services at AISJ to meet the needs of a wider range of learnersProtect the safety and wellbeing of childrenUndertake professional duties that may be reasonably assigned by the Principal.Assist with after school activities.Adhere to supervision duties as assigned by administration.All community members are expected to be committed to the AISJ Community Principles.We are better when we act together.Our differences make us stronger.Every voice counts.
