PURPOSE:Responsible for ensuring that an organization complies with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as implementing policies and procedures to prevent accidents and minimize environmental impact.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.Investigate incidents and accidents, and develop plans to prevent recurrence.Develop and provide training on HSE policies and procedures.Collaborate with management and employees to promote a safety culture.Maintain health and safety files for plants.Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics.Review contractor HSE files.Ensure compliance with OHS Act, Environmental Legislation, and other relevant regulations.Manage and coordinate emergency response plans and procedures.Liaise with external parties, such as regulatory bodies and consultants.Work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, to accomplish organisational goals and identify and resolve problems.REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.Minimum 5 years' experience in HSE management.Experience in a similar role in operations and maintenance for Solar PV power plants or Construction Site.Relevant certification, such as SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or ISO 45001.Strong knowledge of South African HSE regulations and standards.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to analyze data and develop effective solutions.Registration with the South African Council for Project and Construction.Strong leadership and management skills.Knowledge of international HSE standards and best practices.Experience with auditing and management systems (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 14001).Valid driver's license.
