PURPOSE:Responsible for ensuring that an organization complies with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as implementing policies and procedures to prevent accidents and minimize environmental impact.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actionsInvestigate incidents and accidents, and develop plans to prevent recurrenceDevelop and provide training on HSE policies and proceduresCollaborate with management and employees to promote a safety culture Maintain health and safety files for plantsMonitor and report on HSE performance metricsReview contractor HSE filesEnsure compliance with OHS Act, Environmental Legislation, and other relevant regulationsManage and coordinate emergency response plans and proceduresLiaise with external parties, such as regulatory bodies and consultantsWork effectively with internal and externalstakeholders, to accomplish organisational goals and identify and resolveproblems REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related fieldMinimum 5 years' experience in HSE managementExperience in a similar role in operations and maintenance for Solar PV power plants or Construction Site Relevant certification, such as SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or ISO 45001Strong knowledge of South African HSE regulations and standardsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to analyze data and develop effective solutionsRegistration with the South African Council for Project and Construction Strong leadership and management skillsKnowledge of international HSE standards and best practicesExperience with auditing and management systems (e.g.
ISO 45001, ISO 14001)Valid driver's license.
