POSITION STATEMENT
Assist the Health and Safety Manager to oversee that all Health & Safety Regulations are implemented and adhered to. Review, evaluate, and analyse work environments and adapt programmes and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Take action to prevent costs related to H&S risks Abide by the set time scales Adhere to Company policies and departmental procedures Ensure compliance to OHS Act Ensure monthly OHS reports are submitted to the Health and Safety Manager Assist in ensuring that the organisation is kept up to date of and complies with all legislation in relation to the use of its plant, equipment and substances, as well as in all workplace activities Examine credentials, licenses, or permits to ensure compliance with OHS legislative requirements. Adapt OHS related documents to be client specific Enforce risk identification, evaluation and development of safe work procedures Conduct or arrange a risk and hazard assessment and implement the necessary corrective actions to mitigate hazards and risks. Communicate all hazards that could not be removed and ensure ongoing safety awareness on the precautionary action to be taken Ensure that all accidents and incidents are properly recorded, reported and investigated and corrective and preventative are implemented Ensure that monthly inspections are conducted and real-time recorded on the OHS system Ensure that all contractors adhere to the Health and Safety specifications Assist with establishing the Fall Protection Plan (if required) Ensure rehabilitation of all areas affected by construction Ensure that all tool and vehicle inspections Compile Non-Conformance Reports for non-compliance Audit sites Audit health and safety files Ensure toolbox talks are conducted Carry out safety inductions for employees and contractors Facilitate training on all organisational related H&S and legal compliance matters. Knowledge and understanding of the telecommunications and civil industry Computer literacy, good knowledge of MS Office software packages Safety 360 Systems Knowledge of applicable laws, legal codes, precedents, government regulations and executive orders Knowledge of principles and methods of Learning and Development Knowledge of the practical application of the relevant OSH Act QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
Grade 12 Safety training courses e.g. SHE Q, Safety Representative, Advance Safety Representative and more advanced SAMTRAC, HIRA, Accident Investigation. A minimum of 3 years' experience in Health and Safety role (preferable within telecoms or construction environment)
