Health And Safety Officer

Job Title: Health and Safety OfficerStart Date & Duration: Mid-September for approximately 10 months
Remuneration: R25,000.00 per month plus accommodation
Reporting to: Executive Contracts Manager
Duties:Utilise current health and safety legislation and/or regulations to ensure that all reasonable and proper measures are taken to ensure the safety and health of employees, clients, and visitorsInvestigate all accidents and incidents and make recommendations to management to prevent any re-occurrence of incidentsConduct Safety Audits on sites on a regular basisAccompany and assist in the Department of Labour investigations or audits as requiredEnsure that all contractors and subcontractors comply with the relevant Health and Safety requirements as per legislation and company specifications for projectsEncourage employees to actively participate in SHE mattersConduct SHE Committee meetingsImplement an action plan to correct non-compliant behavior or conditions regarding safety and healthUpdate and submit monthly safety, health, and environmental statisticsCreate SHE documentation templates as requiredCompile SHE reports as requiredConduct monthly internal audits to ensure full legal complianceManage, implement, and report on NOSA audit as requiredUpdate documentation as per NOSA audit findingsAdvise on changes in legislation and legal requirementsInitiate and participate in disciplinary action to employees not adhering to policies and procedures with regards to safetyEDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:Education Requirements:
Grade 12
Registration with the SACPCMP
Fully proficient in Office 365
Incident and accident investigation qualification
Risk Assessor qualification
Fall protection planner/developer qualification
Working at Heights (at least level 2)
Working in confined spaces with a certificate of competence
Fall protection planner (experience in fall protection or valid certificate)
First aid L2 (previous certificate or valid certificate with experience)
Rope access experience
Basic lifting and rigging experience
HIRA certificate
SAMTRAC or equivalent qualification
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:5 Years in a similar role
