Company is looking for an experienced individual to implement and regulate current Health & Safety Management Systems and to ensure the company complies with health & safety laws. The incumbent will also be responsible for establishing policies that will create and maintain a safe working condition in designated sites. The goal is to ensure the company meets all legal expectations and actively supports occupational health and safety. THE JOB INVOLVES: Key Competencies Co-ordinate the Safety, Health, and Environmental management system in accordance with the OHS Act Manage the OHS induction and awareness training to personnel Implement and maintain the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) management systems Write, update and maintain procedures for Safety, Health and Environmental management Ensure SHE procedures are implemented and followed at all times Conduct investigations into accidents and complete COID documents Conduct investigations into environmental conditions and identify possible health hazards Liaise with Human Capital & Training department on health and safety training Prepare and submit quarterly OHS reports to the board Conduct site inspections and take corrective action where necessary Maintain all OHS records REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB: Knowledge / Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualification in OHS Minimum 5 years' experience in the OHS field Good understanding and knowledge of the OHS field Knowledge of the relevant OHS legislation Be prepared to travel Willingness to work overtime Computer literacy Valid Code 8 driver's licence & own transport Skills Be calm, patient, assertive, with excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills Have strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills Be capable of researching, acquiring and applying detailed legal, technical & regulatory information Excellent communication (verbal & written) and presentation skills are required Be able to deal comfortably with a wide range of people including employee, managers, executives, consultants and other specialists Good team leadership and management skills are required to ensure strong corporate stance on OHS Management Able to work independently and is very organised Seniority levelSeniority level Mid-Senior level Employment typeEmployment type Full-time Job functionJob function Management and Manufacturing Industries Manufacturing Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Total Recruitment Solutions by 2xGet notified about new Health And Safety Officer jobs in Brakpan, Gauteng, South Africa.
