This role reports to the Chief Underwriting Officer and is responsible for product underwriting across the Company Distribution, Specialist Insurance with some governance review support of Company Insurance Partners. Key responsibilities include:Key Tasks and Accountabilities:Personal linesCommercial linesFlexifliteFarmersBody CorporateAccident and HealthLiabilityAsset All RisksManage and report on Underwriting Quality and Product adherence.Identify opportunities for growth within our risk appetite.Monitor and report on adherence to risk appetite across the portfolio.Develop and implement product and underwriting enhancements.Oversee underwriting governance functions.Manage Company's Underwriting Operational Risk Register.Develop and maintain Underwriting training and peer reviews.Manage all Risk engineering functions.Financial forecasting and budgeting for the area.Drive service excellence in all aspects to all customers.Relationships:• Internal: Underwriting, Claims, Risk Management, Sales and Distribution• External: Company Insurance Partners, Industry groupsQualifications & Experience:Minimum NQF Level 7, i.e. University degreeMinimum 5 – 8 years' short term insurance experience5 or more years general management experienceExperience in project management advantageous.Behaviours:Ability to collaborate effectively across functions.Self-motivated and takes initiative.Professional and positive attitude.Ability to manage a team to achieve performance outcomes.Knowledge:Knowledge of economic trends impacting underwriting.Proficient product knowledge in policy wording and claims handling.Understanding of insurance industry trends and regulations.Technical Skills:Proficiency in English and at least one other language.Strong communication skills for complex concepts.Advanced knowledge of the policy underwriting life cycle.To apply: Please submit your CV and latest payslip to ******: 2024-07-09
