The Opportunity
The role of Medical Director (Africa) in the Core Diagnostics Division provides leadership and strategic direction to achieve company, business unit, and individual performance objectives. This role is critical to establishing, fostering, and maintaining excellent educational activities with healthcare providers and research collaborations with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), other clinical investigators, and key academic institutions to build outstanding product awareness and advocacy.
What You'll Do
Ensures that all activities are performed in compliance with quality system requirements.
Help develop and deliver clinical messaging for products in coordination with the commercial and Medical Affairs teams.
Help develop and execute educational programs for clinical messaging to key stakeholders such as healthcare providers, payers, regulators, etc.
Educate and coach the commercial team regarding clinical details of products and assist in the development of field activities.
Optimize communication and interactions with key customers and accounts by working with strategic managers within Medical Scientific Programs, Account Management, and Sales teams.
Assist in the tactical implementation of regional and local educational initiatives in concert with corporate and regional business goals.
Assist EMEA Medical Affairs in the integration of strategies, goals, and messaging across supported diagnostic areas.
Ensure the initiation of internal and external research projects involving present and future product pipeline.
Oversee advocate development at both divisional and regional levels, as executed by the EMEA Medical Affairs Group.
Covers the African region.
Based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Significant travel (at least 40% of time) is required.
Required Qualifications
Must be a qualified doctor (MBChB, MD, MBBS, etc.)
Educational background and/or clinical experience in Emergency Medicine, Neurology, Infectious or Cardiovascular Diseases, or related field.
Background
Minimum 6-10 years' experience in clinical or lab medicine.
Experience in biotech/pharma/diagnostics industry (professional medical education, medical affairs, or clinical research), or equivalent experience in healthcare management preferred.
