Purpose of the Position
Macmillan Education - Southern Africa is looking for an experienced professional to join as Head of Marketing. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies that promote our educational products and services. The role includes managing campaigns aligned with sales opportunities, enhancing brand awareness, and fostering relationships with key educational stakeholders across Southern Africa.
The Requirements Minimum of 5 years' experience in marketing, including 2 years in a managerial role.Degree in Marketing, Business, or related field.Experience in the school publishing industry or education is an advantage.Proven ability to execute successful marketing campaigns.Expertise in digital marketing and social media management.Strategic thinking with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Leadership experience with a strong track record of managing teams and budgets.Strong customer focus, organizational, and project management skills.Ability to travel within South Africa and the broader Southern African region.Understanding of legal issues related to marketing and branding.Good understanding of the POPI Act. The Responsibilities Develop and implement annual marketing strategies for South Africa, collaborating with internal departments to ensure alignment with company objectives.Lead and mentor the marketing team, overseeing staff performance, development opportunities, and departmental goals.Compile and manage the annual marketing budget, allocating funds for exhibitions, sponsorships, and tracking expenditures.Oversee promotional campaigns, including digital marketing and participation in educational conferences and webinars.Ensure consistent application of the Macmillan Education brand according to global guidelines.Manage the company's online presence across social media platforms, website, and email marketing.Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including educational institutions, bookstores, and industry partners.Conduct market research, analyzing trends and customer needs to inform strategic decisions.Provide marketing support to Southern African countries, ensuring quality and consistency of branding. The Successful Candidate Should Demonstrate strong strategic thinking and leadership skills.Be highly organized, with a proven ability to manage and guide a team.Exhibit excellent communication and presentation abilities.Possess strong project management skills with a solid understanding of both print and digital marketing strategies.Be creative, innovative, and responsive to the evolving needs of the education sector.Exhibit a high level of integrity and compliance with governance and ethical standards.
