Job Description Are you a dynamic leader with a proven track record in financial management, operations, and customer relationship management? IMS, a leader in digital insurance medical solutions, is seeking a strategic and hands-on MD to drive operational excellence and sustainable growth.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a business that combines innovation with customer-centric solutions.
Role Description: Manages service level agreements with suppliers. Sets direction for an operational unit, develops and takes accountability for a business plan which is aligned to segment strategy. Integrates delivery and metrics across the people, process, finance and customer dimensions of the business. Manages direct and indirect reports. Is accountable for thought leadership and best operating practice in response to external environment. Is accountable for governance of change to the internal environment. Key Result Areas Financial Management and Oversight Lead annual business planning, budgeting, and financial forecasting. Oversee the financial accounting function, including managing cash flow, reviewing financial reports (P&L, debtors, cashflow) and ensuring financial sustainability. Direct month-end procedures, manage contractor payments, and ensure accurate customer invoicing. Maintain financial controls, oversee banking transactions. Legal and Compliance Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations (VAT, PAYE, company tax). Oversee the annual audit, tax returns, and employment equity reporting, ensuring that IMS maintains its Level 1 B-BBEE status. Customer Relationship Management Serve as the primary liaison with customers, handling performance reports, service negotiations, and escalations. Lead customer meetings, pricing discussions, and annual fee reviews to foster long-term partnerships and trust. Business Development Identify new business opportunities and explore emerging trends in medical diagnostics (e.g., point-of-care testing, wearable tech). Develop innovative solutions to customer needs, while supporting proof-of-concept trials and market research. Human Resource Leadership Champion a positive company culture within the IMS team, leading staff development, skills training, and performance reviews. Manage contractor relationships, annual contract renewals, and employee benefits to maintain a competitive employer profile. IT and System Management Direct ongoing development of the iMeds system in collaboration with solution providers to optimise work-management platforms. Oversee IT infrastructure procurement, supplier relationships, and key technologies that enable business operations. Risk and Supplier Management Identify and mitigate risks in alignment with industry standards and ensure supplier development meets B-BBEE targets. Manage relationships with key suppliers and contractors, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality service delivery. Board and Stakeholder Engagement Prepare and present strategic business plans, financial reports, and performance metrics to the IMS Board. Handle day-to-day queries and provide support to internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications and Experience required Matric; preference for tertiary qualification in commerce-related field Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in senior management roles, with a focus on operations or financial management, preferably within healthcare or related industries. Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, cash flow, and financial reporting. Exceptional leadership skills, with experience managing teams and fostering a collaborative work environment. A deep understanding of regulatory compliance, risk management, and customer relationship management. Ability to manage complex, fast-paced operations and navigate challenges with a solution-oriented mindset.
