Introduction We are looking to recruit a permanent Head of Finance to work for United Pharmaceutical Distributors (UPD). The role will be based at the Roodepoort Lea Glen branch and will report to the Managing Executive UPD.
Job Purpose: To effectively develop & execute financial direction; appropriately assess & allocate financial resources to the BU, thereby enhancing the business unit's financial health through the achievement of its financial targets, in compliance to the business governance framework.
Key Performance Areas: • Develop & implement rigorous financial planning & reporting processes in order to ensure financial/non-financial reports of business unit performance are accurate and easily accessible in order to positively impact decision making within the business unit & mitigate risk.
• To co-create the business strategic agenda and support the delivery of a compelling and sustainable brand proposition by contributing effectively across functions as an executive team member.
• To ensure that the financial results of the business unit are accurately and timeously recorded in accordance with applicable accounting standards and relevant legislation.
• To provide effective financial management of the business unit within predetermined metrics to ensure the efficient allocation of resources in accordance with the group's financial goals.
• To continually assess the forecasted performance and effectiveness of the business model in relation to the economic environment, market dynamics and competitor activity in order to guide appropriate measures within the business unit.
• To ensure effective communication to internal and external stakeholders in order to maintain confidence and support.
• To effectively manage Business Development and Project Management and Design in order to ensure effective capital and resource utilization.
• To provide assurance of compliance to defined operational processes in order to align the business unit to the group's governance framework and to mitigate risk.
• To develop and drive the achievement of the financial plan of the business unit.
• To ensure effective people management and development in order to build capability to meet current and future business needs.

Required Minimum Education and Qualifications: • Retail or Business-related qualification.
Minimum Experience and Education: • Finance Executive or Head within a sizeable retail company with a national footprint.
