The position reports to the takealot.com Chief Financial Officer Your responsibilities will include: Financial Leadership: Provide strategic financial leadership and direction to the finance team. Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance and efficiency. Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute the company's financial strategy. Accounts Payable: Oversee the accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments. Implement and maintain effective vendor management practices. Monitor and manage cash flow to optimize working capital. Accounts Receivable: Manage the accounts receivable function, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing and collections. Develop and implement credit policies and procedures to minimize bad debt. Monitor and report on accounts receivable aging and performance. Revenue Management: Oversee revenue recognition processes and ensure compliance with accounting standards. Analyze revenue trends and provide insights to support business decision-making. Collaborate with commercial and marketing teams to standardize reporting. Stock Management: Oversee inventory management and control processes. Ensure accurate and timely recording of stock movements and valuations. Monitor stock levels and optimize inventory turnover. Marketplace Finance: Manage financial operations related to the company's third-party marketplace. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures for marketplace transactions. Monitor and report on marketplace financial performance. Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Take full ownership of annual and interim financial audits (internal and external). Work closely with FP&A team to complete the annual budget cycle. Identify and execute automation opportunities. Provide insights and recommendations to support business decision-making. Ensure full statutory compliance relating to indirect company taxes. Responsible for the integrity of all financial records. Team Management: Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Set performance goals and conduct regular performance reviews. Ensure the finance team is adequately resourced and trained. Attributes required: High business acumen. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Ability to work and keep up in a fast-paced, changing business environment. Strong general financial background with proven skills in financial accounting, budgeting and reporting, treasury, and cash flow management. Proven experience developing and managing new frameworks, processes and procedures across a growing business to ensure rigorous compliance with external and internal policies. Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines. Qualifications and Experience: CA (SA) with 5+ years' experience in managing a finance team. Experience in e-commerce or retail industry is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
