Furthermore, provide the necessary direction by controlling, planning, initiating, coordinating and organizing the living and learning activities and functions of student residences services in collaboration with the Residence Coordinators and different related support services.Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:At least 5 years' relevant managerial experience within a Higher Education.Extensive relevant experience in student housing, accommodation and or living and learning communities.Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities:Implementation and ensuring that the vision, mission and strategic goals of Student Affairs and Student Life & Residential Services are adhered to and aligned with the university's vision and mission.Effective and efficient management of residence infrastructure and facilities.Manage the development of the living and learning communities (student residences) in accordance with the applicable CPUT policies, rules and regulations.Oversee the development and consistent implementation of placement policies and procedures, residence rules and regulations.To take accountability for discipline and order within residence communities.Ensure effective and efficient management of budgets and resources in line with all financial policies.Develop and influence policies and programmes that enhance positive student experiences in the residences.Oversee the development and support of house committees to enable them to add value to the management of the residences.Research and benchmark best practices in Student Accommodation nationally and internationally.Manage relationships between house committees, SRCs, residence staff and university authorities.Continuously enhance the relationships between house committees, community and parents.Manage the staff in terms of career development, skills development, performance, and appointments.Give guidance and advice to senior management on the matters relating to student housing, living and learning and student communities.Ensure co-ordination and synergy amongst all Student Life & Residential Services staff and student structures.Advocate and promote tolerance and appreciation of diversity within students' residences communities.In conjunction with Property Services, oversee larger maintenance projects and reporting to the relevant authority.Oversee that the OHSA is adhered in all student residence communities.Perform any role that the Deanery may assign to the HOD including ad-hoc functions areas.Ability to build partnerships.Ability to manage change.Conflict management.Information monitoring.Innovation and leading through vision and values.Good administrative and financial management skills.Planning and organizing.Negotiation and presentation skills.Excellent leadership skills.General Information:Closing Date: 17 November 2024For enquiries and assistance with your online application: please contact Mr Odwa Siza, (Human Capital Department) on (021) 959 6738 or 0812484251.NB: PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SYSTEM DOES NOT ALLOW APPLICANTS TO UPLOAD CVs.
