A private equity-backed multinational firm based in Cape Town is seeking a Head of Credit Control to oversee the credit control function, manage outstanding debt collections, and optimize cash flow.
In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of credit control, develop and implement effective credit policies while ensuring alignment with the company's objectives. You will lead, motivate, and support a team of credit controllers, providing training and performance evaluations to enhance their capabilities.

Key qualifications and experience for the Head of Credit Control:Professional accounting qualification: CIMA or ACCA preferredProven experience in credit control management, preferably within a professional services or accountancy environmentProficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially ExcelKey duties for the Head of Credit Control include but are not limited to:Credit Control LeadershipOversee daily credit control operations to ensure timely and accurate receivables collectionDevelop and implement strategies to improve the credit control process and reduce overdue accounts while managing team resources effectivelyEvaluate client creditworthiness through reviews and credit checks, establishing appropriate credit limitsRegularly update credit control policies to align with company objectives and monitor high-risk accounts, collaborating with internal teams to address potential risksDebt CollectionCreate efficient debt collection processes to decrease overdue debts and debtor daysNegotiate payment plans with clients as necessary and ensure timely paymentsReview aged debt reports frequently, addressing disputes and payment issues promptlyStakeholder EngagementCultivate strong relationships with clients, sales teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless credit control operationsWork closely with the finance department on cash flow management and reporting, providing senior management with regular updates on debtor performance and credit riskTeam ManagementLead and inspire a team of credit controllers by setting clear objectives and conducting performance reviewsIdentify training needs and keep the team updated on the latest credit control practices, fostering a positive environment focused on continuous improvementReporting & AnalysisGenerate regular reports on key credit metrics, including debtor days and overdue balancesAnalyse trends to provide insights for decision-making on credit policies and risk management, ensuring accurate tracking of bad debt write-offs and provisionsCompliance & LegalEnsure adherence to legal and regulatory standards related to credit controlCollaborate with legal teams on debt recovery actions and initiate legal proceedings as necessaryKey personal skills for a successful Head of Credit Control:Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholdersHigh level of attention to detail and organizational abilityCapacity to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple prioritiesIf you are passionate about credit control and have a strong background in financial management, then please get in touch to learn more about this exciting opportunity.
